Speed Reading

Mr.Kumar,a down to earth guy, works for a major MNC in chennai,India. On a normal working day, he wakes up at 7 a.m. As lethargic as always,he leaves to his office.Returns at  around 8 in the evening. After chatting with his friends tusing his modern gadgets,he ends his day with a sumptuous meal. Now,if you ask him to increase his reading speed, the most expected reply would be ,”Hare yaar,I ve more important things than this.. My speed is  more than enough to accomplish my tasks!!!”

okay… what may be the difference between Howard Berg(Fastest reader on the planet) and average Mr.Kumar.Consider if Berg could complete a novel in an hour, then Mr.Kumar may take almost 24 hours to complete it.Thats a difference of an extra day to enjoy the life. Apart from wasting a whole day, comprehension and memory also will be less among slow readers. Can you imagine how much easier your life will be when a lot is read on time…with better comprehension and memory…

The Good news now is that it is much easier  to develop your reading speed. All you need is practice. The following rules will be helpful in your journey to speed reading.

  • Check out for main ideas in what you read
  • Try to avoid regressions
  • Improve your vocabulary
  • Practise to think along with the author
  • Make a long-range reading programme
  • Enjoy what you read

Happy Reading(i.e. Speed Reading)
